D-DAY FOR SCHOOLS
The Danger UXB Mobile museum is a Living History mobile museum that actually comes to your school!
Each workshop is designed to immerse students in the lives of people on the British Home Front, and what D-Day meant to them during World War II. We don't just talk about D-Day, we live it! Our costumed historian is Captain Steve Day of the Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal section, who will talk about, demonstrate and invite students to participate in different jobs that were carried out in across Britain during the War. Students will have a hands on expirience with their own ID Card, building air raid shelters, Play the plane identification game – is that friend or foe flying overhead? plus many more activities depending on numbers and time. D-Day and Life in World War Two Britain Students will handle a large range of real life WW2 objects with our historians, and learn about: rationing, Make Do and Mend, evacuation, and how the bombings in South Wales led to the arrival ofr the American GI's and D-Day that shaped our daily life. Please note: There are no blade weapons, such as knives or bayonets in the collections we bring. But for KS2 and 3 groups, replica hand guns and rifles are part of the display. |
