Welcome to the Danger UXB, we are historians and EOD specialists with a passion for history and Education, remembering those who gave their lives.
Bomb Disposal teams operating during the Blitz right across Britain, cleared the beaches for D-Day and continued by clearing bombs throughout Europe until VE Day. But Bomb Disposal didn't stop at the end of the war, Bomb Disposal (EOD) teams World Wide are still fighting WW11 today, by making safe UXO's and IED's in other conflicts worldwide. The life expectancy of a Bomb Disposal officer in 1940 was just ten weeks, but in those early weeks of the war on the Home Front it was nearer two weeks. The bomb disposal teams along with the Axillary services across Britain dealt with UXB's by the only means available to them. Often having to beg and borrow equipment, as well as scrounging transport to complete the job. This site recognises all the Bomb Disposal sections, extraordinary ingenuity, bravery and self- sacrifice. So why not join us, and explore the world of the WW2 at the Danger UXB Museum. |

SO WHATS NEW FOR 2026?
“Spirit of wartime SOUTH WALES 2026”
|
The “Spirit of wartime SOUTH WALES 2026” remembers and commemerates June 6th the anniversary of D-Day, one of the most pivotal moments in our history. On this day in 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the massive amphibious invasion of Nazi-occupied Normandy, France.
While the beaches of Normandy and the valour of the soldiers who stormed them are often the focus of commemorations, much less is reported on the critical role that the people of South Wales and Swansea played in the preparations for those D-Day landings. South Wales is where the men of the "5th Engineer Special Brigade" camped out, trained and lived during the months leading up to D-Day and their Invasion of Omaha Beah. |
|
In rememberance of those who gave so much, Danger UXB have organisd special events starting with the unveiling of the commemoration plaque for the “Engineer Special Brigade” who were based at Penllegaer House during the War, and celebrate the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of those who lived through the Second World War, while engaging the South Wales community through history, education, and remembrance.
Swansea’s Penllergare House, was the HQ for the American 5th Engineer Special Brigade, who were given the task to invade Omaha Beach and clear the beaches of mines and obsticales. The diverse terrain of South Wales provided ideal locations for training troops. with the rugged coastline and varied landscape being perfect for simulating the conditions soldiers would face on D-Day. |
|
As we mark the anniversary of D-Day, let us remember and honour the vital contributions of the people of South Wales, whose efforts helped shape the course of history.
In Honor of the Valiant Americans of the 5th Engineer Special Brigade Who Gave Their Lives in the Assault on Omaha Beach on 6 June 1944 |
